Summary: She married her husband when she was only 15 and he was only 16. She became Queen on France at the age of 19 while he was 20. The people in the palace did not like her either but popularity was something one needed when they are royal. A lady called Comtesse de la Motte-Valois made accusations about secret, romantic rendezvous that Marie had had. These accusations tore Marie down even more in the eyes of the French people. After the mob came in and forced the royal family out she was still holding her head high. She was secretly to negotiate with foreign powers and was passing military secrets to Austria which was treason. her husband was was tried and convicted of treason and executed on the guillotine. Maire was tried for later and was accused of many outrageous things such as incest. The most absurd and insulting charges was that she was having sex with her ailing son while still in prison. The witnesses were usually paid, druken soliders, or disgruntled servants. On the day of her execution, her hair was cut off and her hands were tied. She was led in an open cart for three hourse being spit on and thrown at. But still she held her head up high.
